The Garage is going to be the sum of the efforts of many. Part of achieving a functional space is collaborating on the setup. Much of the immediate need for volunteers relates to getting the space open, as well as staffed.
The "Honey Do" list
This list, which was posted on the wall in the Garage, is the current list of tasks that need to happen before we can open. The master copy is kept in Google Docs: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fZ49bp-VLsVyJL4nZ5p6FlsNe--AT7leDYE6KVFBY9g/edit?tab=t.0. Any help with these (whether providing materials, providing assistance, or leading the completion of one or more items) is greatly appreciated. The main items remaining are summarized below:
- Finish installing panels on north wall of garage
- Seal french drain against water
- Repair any remaining holes in the concrete floor
- Use concrete repair stuff currently in the space
- Pressure test existing air lines and see if they can be used
- Air compressors already on-site
- Clean walls
- We have a pressure washer that could be used, but it may make too big a mess. Consider brushing walls clean enough to paint
- Clean floors by physically scraping paint. Make sure that no paint makes it down floor drains
- Paint floors (approx 1000 sqft)
- Paint walls
- Paint office
- Paint north wall
- Paint the walls of the paint booth
- Empty and haul all trash to the dumpster, but make sure it is not overly full
- When does the trash go out?
General organization
- Design and fabricate mounting/etc to make a place where rechargeable batteries are stored. This could include 3D printing adapters to wall mount batteries (existing designs should be available).
- Design and install floor snouts that debris can be swept into. These would be able to open at the press of a foot button, and allow for easy cleanup of e.g. sawdust.
- Fit and hook up large sump pump (to prepare for when small pump fails)
- More technical needs exist including IT and the wiki - see at least the page MediaWiki Deployment Notes
Long-term recurring tasks
- Periodically silt trap on southwest drain.
